    30-Day Return Policy

    We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. If something isn't right, we're here to help β€” all returns and faulty item claims must be initiated within 30 days of your delivery date.

    30-day return window: You have 30 days from your delivery date to initiate a return. After 30 days, returns are no longer accepted under this policy.
    Return shipping is at your cost: For change-of-mind returns, the cost of sending the item back to us is the customer's responsibility. A standard outbound shipping fee of R75 will also be deducted from your refund (or the original shipping fee if you paid for shipping).
    Received a damaged or defective item? Items that arrive damaged or have a manufacturing defect are covered under our Warranty Policy β€” not this returns page. Please visit our Warranty page for full details on how to claim.

    Returns apply only to items purchased directly through smael.co.za. Items must be in their original condition as described below.

    Change-of-Mind Returns

    If you've changed your mind or no longer need the item, you may return it within 30 days of delivery β€” no questions asked. This policy allows you to inspect the product in person and ensure it matches what was described on our website.

    • Item has been used, worn, or shows signs of use
    • Original packaging is damaged, missing, or discarded
    • Stickers, tags, or protective films have been removed
    • Any included accessories are missing
    • Return is initiated after 30 days from delivery
    Return courier cost: The cost of shipping the item back to us for a change-of-mind return is at the customer's expense.
    Outbound shipping deduction: The original cost of delivering your order to you is not included in your refund β€” regardless of whether you paid for shipping or qualified for free shipping.
    • If you paid for shipping on your order, that shipping fee will be deducted from your refund.
    • If you received free shipping (orders over R600), the standard outbound shipping rate of R75 will be deducted from your refund β€” this reflects the actual cost incurred to deliver your order.
    Lost in transit: We recommend using a trackable courier service for your return. We cannot be held responsible for items lost or damaged in transit to us.
    Faulty on Delivery or Manufacturing Defect

    If your item arrives damaged or faulty, or we confirm a manufacturing defect within 30 days of delivery, we will arrange and cover the full cost of courier collection and redelivery. No inspection fees apply.

    Within 30 days: We book and pay for courier collection from you and redelivery of the replacement β€” at no cost to you.
    After 30 days: Approved warranty claims carry a R100 handling fee (covers processing and outbound shipping of the replacement). See our Warranty page for full product-specific terms.
    Please note: All items are inspected upon return. We do not offer repairs β€” if a defect is confirmed, a replacement unit will be provided. If a replacement is not available, a refund will be issued. The decision to approve or decline a defect claim rests solely with smael.co.za following inspection.
    How to Start a Return
    1. 1 Contact us via WhatsApp 074 001 6851 or email support@smael.co.za. Include your order number, the reason for your return, and photos or a short video if the item is faulty or damaged.
    2. 2 Our team will review your request and confirm eligibility. For faulty items, we may ask a few follow-up questions or request additional images before approving the return.
    3. 3 Once approved, we will confirm return instructions and the return address. Please do not send items back before receiving written approval β€” unapproved returns cannot be processed.
    4. 4 Pack the item securely in its original packaging and ship it to the address confirmed by our support team. WhatsApp your tracking number and order number to 074 001 6851 once dispatched.
    5. 5 Once received, we will inspect the item within 3–5 business days and notify you of the outcome. Approved refunds or replacements will be processed promptly.

    Submitting a return request does not guarantee approval. smael.co.za reserves the right to assess the condition of returned items and determine eligibility at its sole discretion.

    Refunds

    Once your returned item has been received and inspected, we will notify you of the outcome. If your return is approved, your refund will be processed to your original payment method within 7–10 business days.

    • Refunds for change-of-mind returns exclude the original outbound shipping cost. If you received free shipping (orders over R600), a R75 shipping deduction applies β€” this reflects the actual cost of delivering your order.
    • Refunds for faulty or defective items confirmed within 30 days include the full item value.
    • No cash refunds β€” all refunds are processed to the original payment method only (security policy).
    • If your bank or payment provider requires additional processing time, please allow up to 10 business days before querying.
    Replacement vs. Refund: Where an item is faulty and a replacement unit is available, we will offer a replacement as the primary resolution. A refund will be issued if no replacement is available or if both parties agree a refund is the appropriate outcome.

    Important: We are not responsible for parcels lost or damaged in transit to us. We strongly recommend using a trackable courier service and retaining your proof of postage until your return is confirmed as received.
    Policy limitations & governing terms

    This return policy applies only to items purchased directly through smael.co.za and is valid for 30 days from the date of delivery. Items purchased through third-party retailers, marketplaces, or resellers are not covered under this policy.

    This policy does not affect your statutory consumer rights under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (South Africa). smael.co.za reserves the right to refuse returns that do not meet the conditions outlined above. Abuse of this policy may result in future orders being declined.
